Helical ribbon and screw impeller is an axial flow type agitator impeller. Generally the screw belt pushes the material upward and the screw presses the material downward, thus forming a convection cycle. Helical ribbon and screw impeller is designed for mixing and heat transfer processes involving medium- to high-viscosity liquids.
Description
Helical ribbon and screw impeller is a slow-speed agitator impeller that typically operates in the laminar flow regime. Liquid moves upward or downward along the helical surface, generating axial upward and downward circulation flow.
The form and number of belts should be determined according to the geometry of the vessel and the height of the liquid level. General single screw belt type, double screw belt impeller for flat bottom or oval bottom container. Conical single screw belt type, conical double screw belt impeller for 90 degrees cone bottom container. Oval bottom double screw belt impeller for the bottom of the oval bottom container to prevent adhesion. In general, large diameter, high liquid level with double screw belt type, small diameter should be used with single screw belt type.
