Top-mounted agitator: how to maintain and repair?

(Last Updated On: 01/21/2022)

In the process of daily use of the top-mounted agitator.  If the parts are loose, it will seriously affect our use.  and threaten our operation safety. What should we do if this phenomenon occurs?

Use spring washers and tighten nuts

When removing the flange connector of the top-mounted agitator. We can use a spring gasket to prevent the nut from rotating back.  and it can play a role in preventing loosening. Generally, the threaded connection can meet the self-locking conditions. Tighten the nut. When the static load and working temperature change a little, the threaded connection will not loosen automatically.

However, under the action of impact and vibration, as well as under the condition of high temperature or large temperature change. The preload and friction in threaded connections will gradually decrease or may be less effective, resulting in connection failure. Once the threaded connection fails, it will seriously affect the normal operation of the top-mounted agitator and even cause accidents.

Different methods to anti-loosening for top-mounted agitator

According to different working principles, the anti-loosening methods are different.

  • Friction locking
  • Mechanical locking,
  • Parts locking
  • Gluing locking

The main ones are friction locking and mechanical locking.

The thread resistance of the top-mounted agitator comes from the spiral pattern. The thread can easily obtain great resistance in a narrow space.

The agitator shall be maintained regularly, such as changing lubricating oil, checking bolt looseness, etc
